New wound therapy aims to stop dangerous heart surgery complications

NCT ID NCT06207630

Summary

This study tested whether special vacuum-sealed dressings work better than standard bandages at preventing chest wound openings after heart surgery. Researchers followed 660 heart surgery patients for 90 days to see which dressing better prevented wound separation and infections. The goal was to find a simple way to reduce serious complications that can delay recovery and increase hospital stays.
