Heart surgeons test simple spray to boost blood flow during bypass operations

NCT ID NCT06301880

Summary

This study tested whether applying two different medications directly to an artery during heart bypass surgery could improve blood flow. Researchers measured blood flow from the artery before and after applying either milrinone, nitroglycerin, or a saline solution in 46 patients. The goal was to find a simple way to help ensure arteries used for bypass grafts have optimal blood flow during surgery.
