Simple heart scan could help ICU patients breathe on their own sooner
NCT ID NCT07073976
Summary
This study aims to see if a simple, safe heart ultrasound can help doctors predict which intensive care patients will successfully breathe on their own after a breathing tube is removed. Researchers will scan the hearts of 60 adult patients right before their breathing tube is taken out. They will check if certain heart measurements can tell if a patient will need the breathing tube put back in within 24 hours.
