Arm cuff trial aims to shield hearts from chemo damage

Summary

This study is testing whether a simple, non-invasive procedure called remote ischemic conditioning can protect the heart in lymphoma patients receiving a common but potentially heart-damaging chemotherapy. Over 600 patients at risk for heart problems will be randomly assigned to receive either the real procedure or a sham version before their chemo cycles. The main goal is to see if this brief arm cuff treatment can reduce heart damage and improve patients' long-term heart health and quality of life.
