Could a hidden nerve problem predict kidney failure after heart surgery?

NCT ID NCT07254468

Summary

This study aims to understand if a condition called cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy (CAN), which affects the nerves controlling heart rate and blood pressure, makes patients more likely to suffer kidney injury after coronary artery bypass surgery. Researchers will observe 884 adults undergoing planned bypass surgery, checking for CAN before the operation and then monitoring their kidney function and recovery afterward. The goal is to gather knowledge to help identify high-risk patients in the future.
