Tiny heart monitor tracks hidden dangers after valve surgery

NCT ID NCT02153307

Summary

This study aims to understand how often patients develop dangerous heart block after a minimally invasive aortic valve replacement (TAVI) if they also develop a new, persistent electrical problem called left bundle branch block (LBBB). Researchers will implant a small, matchbox-sized heart monitor under the skin of 80 eligible patients to continuously record their heart rhythm for up to three years. The goal is to learn how to better predict and manage this risk.
