Blood test may predict risks for heart pump patients
NCT ID NCT07497308
Summary
This study aims to see if a simple blood test taken before surgery can help doctors predict which patients are at higher risk for complications after receiving a mechanical heart pump (LVAD). Researchers will measure a protein called GDF-15 in the blood of 48 adults with advanced heart failure before their surgery. The goal is to gather knowledge that could help improve patient selection and care planning for this major procedure.
