Blood test may reveal hidden heart risks
NCT ID NCT07276256
First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looked at 552 adults hospitalized with acute coronary syndrome (a serious heart condition). Researchers used routine blood tests to calculate a "leukoglycemic index" (LGI) combining white blood cell count and blood sugar. They then compared LGI to the SYNTAX score, a measure of heart artery disease complexity, to see if the simple blood test could predict disease severity. The goal was to understand if LGI can help doctors quickly assess heart disease complexity without extra procedures.
