New heart plug aims to stop strokes without blood thinners
NCT ID NCT04829929
Summary
This study is testing a small, permanent heart implant called the Omega™ LAA Occluder. It is designed for people with a common heart rhythm problem (atrial fibrillation) who are at high risk for strokes but also have a high risk of dangerous bleeding, which prevents them from safely taking standard blood-thinning medications. The goal is to see if sealing off a small pouch in the heart where clots often form is a safe and effective way to prevent strokes without the need for long-term blood thinners.
