New guide aims to show heart patients what life with a pump is really like

NCT ID NCT06823583

Summary

This study is testing a new educational tool designed to help people with advanced heart failure understand what to expect after they receive a mechanical heart pump called a Ventricular Assist Device (VAD). Researchers want to see if this guide, created from past patient experiences, is helpful and accurate for both patients and their doctors. The study involves about 10 patients scheduled for VAD surgery and their clinicians at three U.S. hospitals.
