Skip the fast before heart procedures? new study tests patient comfort vs. safety

NCT ID NCT06996639

Summary

This study is testing whether patients need to fast before urgent heart catheterization procedures. Researchers want to know if allowing patients to eat and drink normally before the procedure improves their comfort without increasing safety risks like vomiting or breathing problems. The trial will compare 400 patients with chest pain or mild heart attacks who either follow standard fasting rules or eat and drink as usual.
