Can personalized cholesterol goals beat standard pills for elderly hearts?
NCT ID NCT07359105
Summary
This study aims to find the best way to prevent first heart attacks and strokes in adults aged 70 and older who have type 2 diabetes but no history of heart disease. Researchers will compare two approaches: standard moderate-dose cholesterol medication versus personalized treatment aiming for specific cholesterol targets. The trial involves over 2,000 participants and will track which method better prevents serious heart-related events.
