Could removing iron save hearts after attacks?

NCT ID NCT05604131

Summary

This study is testing whether a drug called deferiprone can reduce harmful iron buildup in the heart after a serious heart attack. Researchers will use heart MRI scans to measure iron levels in 89 patients who've had a specific type of front-wall heart attack. The goal is to see if lowering iron in damaged heart tissue can prevent future heart failure and other complications.
