Race against time: new shot aims to save heart attack patients before hospital
NCT ID NCT04825743
Summary
This large, late-stage study is testing if a single injection given by paramedics in the ambulance can improve survival and recovery for people having a major heart attack (STEMI). Over 2,400 patients will receive either the experimental drug zalunfiban or a placebo shot, with researchers tracking outcomes like death, stroke, and heart failure over the next year. The goal is to start treatment faster to limit heart damage before the patient reaches the hospital for standard procedures.
