New drug aims to protect the heart during emergency attack treatment
NCT ID NCT03470441
Summary
This study tested an experimental drug called FDY-5301, given as a single IV injection during emergency heart attack treatment. The goal was to see if the drug could safely reduce the amount of permanent damage to the heart muscle. About 120 patients who were having a specific type of severe heart attack (STEMI) were randomly assigned to receive either one of three doses of the drug or a placebo.
