Blood test could spot hidden heart damage after major attack

NCT ID NCT05872308

Summary

This study tested whether measuring a specific protein in the blood (troponin-I) after a severe heart attack could help doctors detect dangerous bleeding inside the heart muscle. Researchers enrolled 227 adults who had just suffered a major heart attack and underwent a procedure to open their blocked artery. They compared blood test results with detailed heart scans to see if the test could accurately identify this type of internal bleeding.
