New drug aims to protect hearing during powerful antibiotic treatment
NCT ID NCT05730283
Summary
This study is testing whether a new drug called ORC-13661 can prevent hearing loss in patients receiving amikacin, a powerful antibiotic used to treat serious lung infections. About 105 patients will take either the study drug at different doses or a placebo while receiving their antibiotic treatment. Researchers will compare the groups to see if ORC-13661 effectively protects hearing during this necessary but potentially damaging therapy.
