Hearing aid study tests if precise ear measurements beat default settings
NCT ID NCT05621798
First seen Mar 18, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study looked at whether using a tiny microphone in the ear canal (real-ear measurement) to fine-tune hearing aids works better than just using the manufacturer's default settings. 101 adults with hearing loss in both ears took part. The goal was to see if this extra step improves hearing in real life, speech understanding in noise, and whether it's worth the cost.
