New chemo cocktail tested for tough head and neck cancers

NCT ID NCT04356170

Summary

This study tested whether a combination of three chemotherapy drugs (cisplatin, 5-FU, and docetaxel) given at adjusted doses could effectively shrink tumors in people with advanced head and neck cancer that couldn't be surgically removed. The trial involved 105 patients and focused on measuring how well the treatment worked at 8 weeks while trying to reduce severe side effects. The goal was to control the cancer's growth and potentially preserve organ function when surgery wasn't an option.
