Could a malaria drug help fight prostate cancer?

NCT ID NCT06408298

First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looks at whether hydroxychloroquine, a drug used for malaria and autoimmune conditions, can affect certain cell processes in prostate cancer. About 20 men with localized prostate cancer who are scheduled for surgery will take either the drug or a placebo before their operation. The goal is to measure changes in cell markers and check safety, not to treat the cancer directly.
