New shot could ease crippling hand arthritis pain

Summary

This study is testing whether steroid injections into muscle can safely reduce pain for people with hand osteoarthritis. Researchers will compare two different doses of the steroid methylprednisolone against a placebo injection in 212 participants over 48 weeks. The main goal is to see if the injections provide meaningful pain relief four weeks after treatment begins.
