New hope for kids with severe hair loss: major trial tests daily pill

NCT ID NCT07029711

Summary

This study is testing whether a daily pill called ritlecitinib can help regrow scalp hair in children aged 6 to 12 who have lost at least half their hair due to severe alopecia areata. About 225 children will be randomly assigned to receive either one of two doses of the study medicine or a placebo pill for 6 months. Researchers will compare hair regrowth and safety between the groups to see if the medicine is effective and well-tolerated.
