New combo shrinks untreatable liver tumors in early trial

NCT ID NCT05348811

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested a combination of three treatments—chemotherapy directly into the liver (HAIC), a targeted drug (donafenib), and an immunotherapy (sintilimab)—in 25 people with bile duct cancer that could not be removed by surgery. The goal was to see if the combination could shrink tumors and control the disease. Early results suggest the approach may help some patients, but more research is needed to confirm long-term benefits.
