First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding habit-formation tools to a self-compassionate touch exercise helps people practice more often and feel better. Nearly 500 adults were randomly assigned to receive the exercise with or without habit tools, and were followed for 6 months. The goal was to see if making the practice automatic improves mental health outcomes.
