Stomach bug treatment may boost platelets in bleeding disorder
NCT ID NCT07150286
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 08, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study looked at whether treating H. pylori infection can improve platelet counts in people with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), a condition where the immune system destroys platelets, raising bleeding risk. Researchers tested 100 Iraqi adults with ITP for H. pylori and gave those infected a 14-day antibiotic course. Platelet levels were measured before and after treatment to see if clearing the infection helps.
