New drug combo may reduce severe transplant complications in blood cancer patients
NCT ID NCT03680092
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study tested whether a combination of two drugs, cyclophosphamide and abatacept, could lower the risk of chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after a stem cell transplant for high-risk blood cancers. GVHD happens when donor cells attack the patient's body. The trial enrolled 43 adults and compared the new regimen to standard care. The main goal was to see if fewer patients developed moderate or severe chronic GVHD one year after transplant.
