Army tests if gut health supplements can sharpen minds under fire
NCT ID NCT05392556
Summary
This study investigated whether taking a prebiotic or probiotic supplement for four weeks could help healthy adults better handle intense stress. Researchers wanted to see if these supplements, which target gut bacteria, could improve gut health, thinking skills, and stress hormone levels when people faced demanding physical and mental challenges. The study involved 73 healthy, active adults who were put through stressful tests, including a difficult treadmill walk and a challenging decision-making scenario.
