Scientists probe Gut's role in weight loss surgery success

NCT ID NCT07277465

Summary

This study aimed to understand how the community of bacteria in the gut (the microbiota) changes after weight loss surgery and how those changes relate to improvements in health. Researchers followed 60 patients with severe obesity before and after their surgery, measuring gut bacteria, hormones, inflammation, and body composition. The goal was to gather knowledge to better understand why surgery works and how patient responses might differ.
