Scientists search for gut clues in autism

NCT ID NCT05794620

Summary

This study aimed to understand if there are differences in the gut bacteria of children with autism compared to their neurotypical brothers and sisters. Researchers collected stool samples from 20 children aged 3-10, comparing those with autism to their siblings to control for shared genes and environment. The goal was to gather knowledge about the gut's role in autism, not to test a treatment.
