New study tests platelet gel and laser to fix gummy smiles with less pain and relapse

NCT ID NCT07532161

First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 03, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether using liquid platelet-rich fibrin (a natural blood concentrate) or low-level laser therapy can help people heal faster and have better long-term results after lip repositioning surgery for a gummy smile. About 22 adults with a gummy smile due to a hyperactive upper lip will be treated and followed for up to 6 months. The goal is to reduce pain, swelling, and the chance of the gummy smile returning.
