Gel that promises faster healing after tooth extraction falls short in early trial
NCT ID NCT07421934
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a gel made from hyaluronic acid and amino acids (Gumblast) to see if it helps surgical wounds in the mouth heal better. It involved 28 adults who needed at least two teeth extracted, with one socket treated with the gel and the other left to heal normally. The trial was terminated early, so we don't have clear results on whether the gel improved healing or reduced complications.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
hyaluronic acid gel with amino acids (Gumblast)
What this could lead to
If it worked, this gel could help mouth wounds heal faster after dental surgery.
What could go wrong
The trial was terminated early with only 28 participants, so we don't have reliable evidence it works. Risks were considered minimal but unknown.
