Summary

This study looked at how comprehensive gum treatment affects chewing ability and quality of life in people with severe periodontitis (advanced gum disease). Twenty patients received deep cleaning and, if needed, surgery, while twenty healthy people served as a comparison group. After treatment, gum health, chewing performance, and patient-reported quality of life all improved significantly. The findings show that treating gum disease not only helps gums heal but also makes eating easier and improves daily comfort.
