New gum surgery fills the gap around dental implants

NCT ID NCT07204353

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tested two surgical methods to rebuild the small triangle of gum (papilla) that is often missing between a dental implant and the neighboring tooth. 80 adults with this gum deficiency were randomly assigned to receive either a standard incision, a modified flap technique, or that flap plus a gum graft. The goal was to see which approach best restored gum height and fill, with results measured up to six months after the final crown was placed.
