New gum repair membranes show promising results
NCT ID NCT07308405
Summary
This study tested two different materials used during a common gum surgery to treat receding gums. Fifty patients with isolated gum recession had surgery where their gum was repositioned and covered with either a platelet-rich fibrin membrane (made from their own blood) or a chorion membrane (from donated placental tissue). After six months, both groups showed significant improvement in covering the exposed tooth root and improving gum health, with no major difference between the two materials.
