New study tests better ways to fix receding gums

NCT ID NCT07521566

First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested two methods—using a scalpel outside the mouth or a radiofrequency device inside the mouth—to prepare gum grafts for treating receding gums. 48 adults with gum recession received the graft along with a surgical gum lift. The goal was to see which method leaves fewer leftover skin cells on the graft and leads to better gum coverage and comfort.
