New gum graft site may reduce pain after dental surgery

NCT ID NCT06404762

Summary

This study compared two areas inside the mouth where dentists can take tissue to fix receding gums. Thirty patients had surgery where gum tissue was moved to cover exposed tooth roots. Researchers wanted to see if taking tissue from the back of the upper jaw (maxillary tuberosity) worked as well as the traditional site on the roof of the mouth (palate), and if it caused less pain and discomfort after surgery.
