New gum treatment trial pits microneedling against laser surgery

NCT ID NCT07410156

Summary

This study compares three methods for treating dark pigmentation on gums: traditional scalpel surgery, laser treatment, and a newer microneedling technique with a topical milk thistle extract called silymarin. Researchers will enroll 30 healthy adults with naturally dark gums to see which approach works best and causes the least pain. The goal is to find the most effective and comfortable way to reduce gum discoloration for cosmetic improvement.
