First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looked at two ways to treat early gum disease (periodontitis) in 80 healthy, non-smoking adults. One group got a newer method called Guided Biofilm Therapy, while the other received standard cleaning with hand tools and an ultrasonic device. Researchers checked gum health and measured immune markers in the fluid around teeth before treatment and at one and three months after. The goal was to see which method better reduced inflammation and improved gum health.
