Blood gel boosts gum healing in periodontitis patients

NCT ID NCT07363135

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tested whether placing a gel made from a patient's own blood (albumin platelet-rich fibrin) into deep gum pockets after a standard deep cleaning can improve healing. Twenty-three adults with advanced gum disease (periodontitis) took part. Each person had one side of their mouth get the standard cleaning plus the gel, and the other side just the cleaning. The researchers measured gum health and healing factors over six months to see if the gel helped more.
