First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study compared two methods for deep cleaning gums in people with periodontitis: an air-polishing spray (Airflow®) and traditional hand scaling with metal instruments. Researchers measured inflammation by looking at tiny particles called exosomes and proteins in gum fluid, as well as clinical signs like bleeding and pocket depth. 36 adults participated, and the goal was to see which method causes less tissue damage and better outcomes.
