First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study will test whether a deep cleaning of the gums (called subgingival instrumentation) can improve symptoms of oral lichen planus, a chronic inflammatory condition that causes painful sores in the mouth. Thirty adults with the condition affecting their gums will receive the cleaning and be monitored for changes in signs and symptoms. Researchers will also look at immune cell levels in gum tissue samples to understand how the treatment works.
