What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- guided internet-based cognitive behavioural therapy and motivational interviewing program
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could provide an effective, accessible, and stigma-free treatment option for people with harmful alcohol use, reducing alcohol consumption and improving mental health.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early implementation study without a control group, so results may not prove the treatment works better than no treatment. The program requires motivation and internet access, which may not suit everyone.
