What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
guided internet-based cognitive behavioural therapy and motivational interviewing program
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide an effective, accessible, and stigma-free treatment option for people with harmful alcohol use, potentially reducing alcohol consumption and improving mental health.
What could go wrong
This is an early implementation study without a control group, so results may not prove cause and effect. The program requires active participation and internet access, which may not suit everyone.
