Heart drug gel could soothe heel pain in new trial

NCT ID NCT07480876

First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether applying a nitroglycerin gel (commonly used for heart conditions) with ultrasound therapy can reduce pain and heel-fascia thickness in people with plantar fasciitis. About 80 adults aged 18-44 with a healthy weight and at least three months of symptoms will be randomly assigned to receive the gel plus ultrasound or a placebo. The goal is to see if this combination eases pain and shrinks the thickened tissue better than standard care.
