Summary

This study tested whether a single injection of an experimental gene therapy called GT005 could safely slow the progression of geographic atrophy, an advanced form of dry age-related macular degeneration that causes permanent vision loss. About 98 participants with this condition received either the injection or no treatment, and their eye health was monitored for up to two years. The trial was stopped early because an independent committee determined it was unlikely to show a meaningful benefit.
