Hormone treatment may help men with infertility avoid surgery

NCT ID NCT07540611

First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether short-term hormone therapy (hCG and FSH) can help men with a condition called non-obstructive azoospermia (no sperm in ejaculate due to low hormone levels) produce usable sperm for IVF. About 860 men will either receive the hormones or standard care for 16 weeks. The goal is to see if the treatment increases the chance of finding sperm in semen or through a minor surgical procedure, potentially reducing the need for surgery.
