Brain fuel: Glucagon's surprising role in thinking and insulin
NCT ID NCT06685146
First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study looked at how the hormone glucagon affects thinking and insulin release, separate from its effect on blood sugar. Fifteen healthy adults received infusions of glucagon and, on another day, glucose to match the same blood sugar levels. Researchers compared cognitive test scores and blood markers of insulin to see if glucagon has direct effects on the brain and pancreas.
