Glucagon's brain boost: a pilot study on cognition and metabolism

NCT ID NCT06685146

First seen Apr 29, 2026 ยท Last updated Apr 29, 2026

Summary

This study looked at how the hormone glucagon affects thinking and insulin release, separate from its role in raising blood sugar. Fifteen healthy adults received infusions of glucagon and, on another day, glucose to match blood sugar levels. Researchers compared cognitive test scores and insulin markers to understand glucagon's direct effects on the brain and pancreas.
