Hormone tested to shield Diabetics' vessels from sugar crash damage

NCT ID NCT04355832

Summary

This early, withdrawn study aimed to see if a natural hormone called GLP-1 could protect the blood vessels of people with type 1 diabetes from damage caused by repeated episodes of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). The researchers wanted to test if giving GLP-1 during these episodes could help keep blood vessels healthy and reduce harmful clotting and inflammatory responses. The study planned to enroll 40 adults with well-managed type 1 diabetes and no major complications.
