First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tested whether a GLP-1 receptor agonist (a type of diabetes drug) works better than insulin for managing diabetes in children aged 10-18 with transfusion-dependent thalassemia. 80 participants received either the GLP-1 drug or standard insulin therapy. The main goal was to see if blood sugar control improved over 6 months using continuous glucose monitoring.
