Summary

This study aims to understand how diabetes and weight-loss medications called GLP-1 receptor agonists (like Ozempic or Wegovy) slow stomach emptying. Researchers want to determine if patients taking these drugs need to fast for a longer period before elective surgery to reduce the risk of stomach contents entering the lungs during anesthesia. The study will enroll 100 adults scheduled for surgery who are using these medications, using ultrasound to measure their stomach contents before their procedure.
